First Fortnight has launched its most ambitious line-up yet featuring live-music, spoken-word, poetry, theatre, film, dance, performance and visual arts events. This year’s festival takes place over January with each festival event carefully selected to challenge stigma and open discussions around mental health.

While the full (and really quite packed!) line-up is available here - www.firstfortnight.ie - a few events deserve a special mention.

  • The Therapy Sessions (January 2nd and 9th) are always a special night, with a blend of music and spoken word acts in the intimate surroundings of the Workman’s Club.
  • Co-Motion, a free outdoor walking event, takes place on January 4th, and aims to explore the connectivity of music between two people with a sharing of the songs that get you through via headphone splitters.
  • Slam Sunday, also on 4th January, will show some of the most exciting spoken word artists around
  • The Button Factory gig on 10th January has a stellar line-up including We Cut Corners, Booka Brass Band and I Have a Tribe, among others.

Tickets range from free to €15 for events, and are available on entertainment.ie.
