List: Best 50 Songs of 2010 [21 - 30]

This top 50 list contains the 50 tracks from 50 different artists and like all lists they represent the music which I adore at this very moment in time.

21: Fia Rua - More Magic

I love the conviction with which Fia Rua sings this song with. It's a charming warm song which delivers a great chorus.

22: BellaJane - Man Overboard

Ronan over at Swear I'm Not Paul prefers the track 'Marionette' from Bella Jane's debut EP 'No String Attached' but I love the Fiona Apple sounding 'Man Overboard'. The whole EP is wonderful and deserves your attention.

23: The Dead Flags - Anymore

When I began this list I had this track in the high 30s but it beat it's way to number 23 due to the rocking quality of this single. It's a perfect pop rock track with a killer video.

24: Fiach - Stop

Fiach finally released his debut album which I really enjoyed but failed to make Fiach the household name many people including me predicted. Stop is an attitude filled stomper of a track.

25: The Dirty 9s - Trouble

.... deep breath .... "There's no better live rock band in Ireland at this present moment than The Dirty 9s." .... they can quote me on that! Album closer 'Trouble' kicks off with a trumpet and builds up to an intense finish.

26: Maria Byrne - All You Need

I love the simplicity and vulnerability of this track. It has a simple message delivered effectively with delicate vocals and sweet harmonies.

27: A Band Called Wanda - Two by Two

Galways folk act 'A Band Called Wanda' released their debut EP this year and includes this fun and wacky folk song.

28: The Ambience Affair - Parting Patterns

I first heard this song when I found out it was used in a CSI and couldn't spot listening to it for ages. It's the type of harmless noise which is difficult to describe as there's so much going on. I suppose it's the mood of the track which I admire most.

29: Owensie - Subtle Connections

Owensie is a superb guitarist and songwriter. He makes the kind of mesmerising music which is truly wonderful to listen to. 'Subtle Connections' is the stand-out track of his self released and difficult to find EP.
