Amhrán Gach Lá - Monorail

For the next number of days I'm going to use my daily "Amhrán Gach Lá" post to write mini reviews of albums or Eps I wanted to review but have slipped me by in the last few months.

Today as it's the turn of Co. Tipperary's Monorail who released their debut album 'Sleepers' this year!

Very few albums have been able to drag me from feelings of sublime to the ridiculous in the course of twelve tracks. The album begins well with the subtle rock sounds of 'The Universe' and it's not long until you hear the album's best track; 'Heart of Gold'. This track benefits from Gemma Hayes' immense vocals and it's a beautiful country rock song. I also loved the laid back feel of 'Calm Place'. However the love wains especially on the second half of the album.
