For the next number of days I'm going to use my daily "Amhrán Gach Lá" post to write mini reviews of albums or Eps I wanted to review but have slipped me by in the last few months.
Today as it's the turn of the debut album Honeyskippin' from The Hot Sprockets released in the Summer!
I have this album a number of months and have listened to it a fair few times. It's quite a frustrating album because there's a number of tracks I get really excited about and then there's lots of tracks which go nowhere! I love the singles Cruisin', Sleep Shake and the title track which showcases The Hot Sprockets bluesy rock goodtime sound. When the tempo drops, the lack of lyrical meaning within the songs become apparent and it ultimately lets the album down.
