If you can get your head round the name (Ham Sandwich & Joan Of Arse have some stiff competition for silliest band name), you will learn to love Kitty & The Can Openers. The band hail from Belfast and they produce some lovely pop music. The band describe their sound better than anyone can on their website:
"Starring the lovely Ciara O'Neill, the inimitable Bongo John, the frequently well turned out Paul Scott and the seldom ingracious Ronan Doran, Kitty and the Can Openers scoop songs out of the stratosphere like pennies from behind your ear."
Kitty & the Can Openers have released their self-titled EP recently in Belfast and it is an encouraging beginning for the band. I love their sound. It's acoustic pop music at it's best. Ciara's voice is similar to Lisa Loeb's which is no bad thing. This blogger thinks with a bit of luck and the right direction, KATCO could follow in the footsteps of bands like The Script and Duke Special. The Ep is below for your listening pleasure. lovely.
I chose the word lovely because it reminded me of the review of Lisa Hannigan's cd on mp3hugger site where he described the album as lovely! Lovely should be used more often to describe a sound or a song!
Peter! I know this isn't posted in the right place, but I had to say thanks so much for introducing me to Damien Rice!!! I'm in love with him. His tune Delicate grabbed me the first time I heard it.
I like their sound - it's good cruising on a Sunday afternoon kinda music.
